Exploration Camps give campers the chance to dive into something that interests them, develop new skills, and discover what they're capable of.
With hands-on programs designed around creativity, technology, STEM, performing arts, outdoor adventure, and more, campers can choose a summer experience that feels uniquely theirs.

Not Every Camper Wants the Same Summer
Some kids want to build a robot.
Some want to perform on stage.
Some want to design, cook, create, debate, code, explore the outdoors, or spend an entire week doing something they've been fascinated by.
That's exactly why Exploration Camps exist.
Rather than a traditional camp schedule, campers spend their week immersed in a subject they've chosen, surrounded by other kids who share their curiosity.
They don't just learn about something.

Exploration Camps are built around active participation.
Depending on the program, campers might:

Great Exploration Camps start with great instructors.
Our programs are led by experienced educators, professionals, coaches, artists, creators, and specialists who bring knowledge and enthusiasm to the subjects they teach.
They're supported by the Summer at St. John's team, combining subject expertise with the care, supervision, and community families expect from a summer camp.
Full Day or Half Day - Build the Summer That Works for You
Exploration Camps offer a variety of hands-on experiences, with some programs running as half-day camps and others offering a full-day experience.
All Exploration Camps are led by our program vendors and specialist instructors, allowing campers to spend their time fully immersed in their chosen program. Because of this, swimming is not included in Exploration Camp programming.
For eligible half-day programs, families can add Stay & Play to extend the camp day until 4:00pm. Campers join the Summer at St. John’s team for lunch, games, sports, activities, and scheduled swim time three days per week.

Big Curiosity Starts Here.
For campers ready to explore, create, and try something new. Programs introduce exciting subjects through hands-on activities, games, projects, and plenty of opportunities to experiment and discover.
Grades 4-5
Turn Curiosity Into Confidence.
Campers can dive deeper into their interests, tackle bigger projects, and discover new passions through creative, technical, academic, and adventurous experiences.
Grades 6-8
Take Your Interests Further.
More independence. Bigger challenges. Deeper exploration. These programs give older campers opportunities to develop real skills, pursue their interests, and connect with others who share them.
