A Hands-On Outdoor Survival Skills Camp for kids entering grades 2 and 3 who are ready to explore, problem-solve, and adventure outdoors.

Adventure begins where the pavement ends! Outdoor Survival Skills gives campers the opportunity to step into the woods surrounding St. John’s Prep and learn practical outdoor skills through hands-on challenges and exploration.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of shelter building, navigation, outdoor preparedness, teamwork, problem-solving, and responsible exploration of the natural environment. Activities are designed to build confidence, independence, resilience, and an appreciation for spending time outdoors. The program also embraces healthy, age-appropriate risk, giving campers opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, make thoughtful decisions, and discover what they are capable of in a carefully supervised environment. 

If group dynamics allow, instructors may introduce the basics of fire building and knife use under the strict supervision of experienced staff. Campers should not bring knives or any other tools from home, as only equipment provided by the program may be used during camp activities. Any such equipment brought to campus will be confiscated by camp staff and returned directly to a parent or caregiver at dismissal.

With enrollment capped at just 12 campers and at least two dedicated, experienced instructors, participants receive plenty of individual guidance while working together to tackle challenges and develop new skills.

This is a true outdoor program and will run outside regardless of the weather, so campers should come prepared to get outside, get dirty, and experience the woods in rain or shine.

This program is run by FKC and is a full-day program.  Please Note: Full-Day Exploration Camps do not include scheduled pool time due to the structure and schedule of our vendor partners’ programming.
