Get ready to go Outbound!
Building on the success of our popular Daytrippers program, Outbound Tripping Camp takes one of our most in-demand summer experiences and makes it bigger, better, and ready for even more adventure.
Designed for campers entering grades 5 - 9, Outbound gets campers off campus and exploring some of the best experiences the North Shore and Greater Boston area have to offer. Each day brings a new destination and a new adventure - from outdoor attractions and high-energy activities to iconic destinations and unique experiences.
Outbound weeks are generally limited to just 30 campers, supported by four dedicated Summer at St. John’s staff members who travel with the group each day. For 2027, we’re also moving from Prep-operated minibuses to professionally chartered transportation, allowing our staff to focus fully on our campers while making travel more efficient for the entire group.

Registration Open | January 7, 2027
Arrival and Transportation
Drop-off for Outbound begins at 8:30 a.m., earlier than most of our other full-day programs. This allows us to get campers checked in, aboard the bus, and on the road as quickly as possible - because when Boston traffic is involved, every minute helps!
All trips will be scheduled to return to St. John’s Prep by 3:30 p.m. at the latest, allowing campers to be back on campus in plenty of time for regular afternoon dismissal. While traffic and other circumstances outside our control can occasionally affect return times, families will receive updates through the Summer at St. John’s app if a delay is expected.

Before Your Outbound Week
Because Outbound visits a variety of third-party attractions and activity providers, some trips will require a signed waiver for your camper to participate. Any required waivers will be made available to families through the Summer at St. John’s app and must be completed before the applicable trip.
Approximately two weeks before each Outbound week, families will receive a detailed itinerary by email. This will include anticipated departure and return times, what campers should bring, clothing or footwear requirements, waiver information, and other important trip-specific details. Updates and reminders will also be available through the Summer at St. John’s app.
Take a look at this summer’s Outbound schedule - we’re confident there’s an adventure for everyone!

Programming Notice
Summer at St. John’s reserves the right to modify scheduled trips, destinations, activities, or other programming as needed due to weather, availability, transportation, safety considerations, or other circumstances.
If a scheduled experience needs to be changed, every effort will be made to provide a comparable alternative whenever possible. Any changes to published programming will be communicated to registered families as soon as they are confirmed.
