For campers entering grades 6 through 9.
Ready to dive into the future of gaming? In our Build Your Own VR Games camp, students will create their own immersive virtual reality experiences! Throughout the course, students will learn the fundamentals of VR development, including coding in C#, working with 3D environments, and building interactive gameplay mechanics. They’ll master essential VR techniques such as teleportation, object manipulation, and controller tracking. As virtual reality becomes a bigger part of everyday life, the demand for VR developers is skyrocketing—this camp gives young innovators the chance to jump into this exciting field! Perfect for tech-savvy kids eager to explore the endless possibilities of VR game creation!
Camp Outcomes: By the end of the week, your child will have built their very own VR game! They will have learned core skills like coding in C#, 3D game design, and how to work within VR platforms. Additionally, they’ll gain valuable experience in game planning and design, setting them on a path toward becoming a versatile and well-rounded game developer.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Controller Tracking: Work with VR controllers to create intuitive player interactions within the game.
- VR Fundamentals: Understand the core principles of virtual reality, including how VR systems work and how to create immersive experiences.
- Coding in C#: Learn the basics of coding in C#, a key programming language for VR and game development.
- 3D Game Design: Gain experience designing 3D environments and characters that are interactive and engaging within the VR space.
- Teleportation & Object Manipulation: Implement VR-specific mechanics like teleportation and object-grabbing systems to enhance gameplay.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:
- Refillable water bottle
- Nut free lunch and snack
- Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
- Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
- We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
