Make Your Own Games Using Godot
For campers entering grades 6 through 9
Bring your vision to life! In this hands-on game development camp, students will learn to create their own 2D and 3D games using Godot, a powerful and open-source game engine. Designed for aspiring young developers, this course introduces game design fundamentals and basic programming concepts in a fun and accessible way. Students will explore how to build worlds, design characters, and bring their ideas to life through interactive gameplay.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Build Your Own Game: By the end of the camp, students will create a functional game they can play and enjoy with their friends!
- Godot Basics: Learn to navigate Godot’s interface and tools for creating 2D and 3D games.
- Intro to GDScript: Understand the basics of GDScript, Godot’s easy-to-learn programming language.
- Game Design Fundamentals: Explore key concepts like level design, character movement, and game mechanics.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Develop logical thinking skills by coding, debugging, and refining game projects.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:
- Refillable water bottle
- Nut free lunch and snack
- Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
- Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
- We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
