for campers entering grades 6-9
Our Mountain Biking Camp is designed for adventure enthusiasts of all levels, offering an unparalleled opportunity to explore the great outdoors on two wheels. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a beginner eager to embark on a new journey, this camp guarantees an exhilarating experience for everyone.
This camp is led by St. John’s Prep teacher and Varsity Mountain Bike coach, Jackson Heath, ensuring expert guidance and a focus on safety and skill development.
Exciting Weekly Highlight: Highland Mountain Bike Park
Each Friday, campers will embark on an unforgettable trip to Highland Mountain Bike Park in New Hampshire, a premier destination for mountain biking.
- Timing: All campers must be on campus by 8:00 AM. We will return to campus at 5:00 PM.
- Details: Additional trip information, including packing lists and expectations, will be provided closer to the camp week.
What to Expect During the Week
- Basic Skills Training:
Hands-on instruction for all campers, covering essential biking skills, safety guidelines, and basic bike maintenance. Whether you’re learning to ride trails for the first time or fine-tuning your technique, we’ll meet you at your level. - Trail Riding Adventures:
Explore a variety of scenic trails tailored to different skill levels—from gentle slopes to thrilling terrains for experienced riders. - Skill Challenges:
Test your abilities on obstacle courses, downhill descents, and technical trail features designed to push your limits and build confidence. - Group Rides:
Build friendships and camaraderie on group rides led by experienced coaches, making teamwork a core part of the camp experience. - Nature Exploration:
Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, discovering hidden gems as you ride through picturesque landscapes.
Equipment and Safety
- Bikes: Campers should bring their own bikes Monday through Thursday. On Fridays we rent specialized bikes from Highland. Bikes can be securely stored on campus overnight if needed.
- Safety Gear: All participants must bring a well-fitted helmet. While gloves and knee/elbow pads are optional, they are encouraged for added safety.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:
- Refillable water bottle
- Nut free lunch and snack
- Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
- Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
- We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
