Game Maker FunFusion: Make Your Own Games & Drone Programming
For campers entering Grades 2 and 3.
Gaming will never be the same again! In this fun and engaging class, young learners will dive into the exciting world of game design using Scratch, a kid-friendly drag n drop programming platform. This course is designed to ignite creativity and introduce the basics of coding in a playful environment. Students will learn how to bring their imaginative ideas to life by creating simple, interactive games and animations. Students do not need to have any coding experience!
Key Learning Objectives:
- Fun with Learning: Build confidence in using technology while having fun and expressing creativity.
- Visual Coding: Understand the basics of Scratch, including how to navigate the interface and use simple intuitive visual code blocks
- Programming Fundamentals: Explore sequencing, loops, conditionals, and events
- Game Design Basics: Learn the fundamental concepts of game design, including character creation, movement, and interaction.
- Drone Programming: Apply coding skills to program and fly real drones
- Creative Problem Solving: Develop critical thinking skills by solving puzzles and challenges as they build their games.
- Collaboration and Sharing: Work together in pairs or small groups, share ideas, and showcase their games with classmates.

The remainder of the day is filled with traditional camp activities—thoughtfully designed games, creative arts and crafts, refreshing swim sessions, and team-building experiences—all guided by our dedicated Summer at St. John’s staff. This unique combination of expert-led instruction and timeless camp fun delivers an age-appropriate, well-rounded experience that not only excites but enriches, setting the stage for a memorable, high-quality summer of growth and joy.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:
- Refillable water bottle
- Nut free lunch and snack
- Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
- Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
- We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
