College Essay Writing 1-1
Dates: Monday June 10, 2024 – Friday August 23, 2024.

Location: Online – Zoom to be sent by tutor.
Faculty: Mr. Andrew Fondell, Mr. Rob O’Chander, Ms. Rachel Salinger, Mr. Jay Pawlyk
Tuition: $700

For the student looking for personalized instruction with the college Common Application essay, an SJP English teacher will help brainstorm ideas, recommend a topic uniquely personal to the student, provide feedback on drafts, and offer final proofreading. Following an intentional schedule, decided upon by the student and the tutor, students will brainstorm ideas, develop drafts, and polish their product.  In that way, the Common App essay will be largely completed by September allowing the student to focus on other college-related activities during the first semester of senior year.

Parent Testimonial:

“I just wanted to take some time to express how much I enjoyed reading my son’s college essay that you teach, review and monitor.  I can’t think of a teacher who could have made this any more special than you did. I have full confidence that my son can get into his dream school.”

This service is provided online via Zoom  – all links will be provided by the teacher upon registration.  Each student shall receive one-to-one time for a minimum of 5.0 hours and teachers will provide 1.0 additional hour of reading/edit time.  You may agree on another schedule with your child’s teacher, verified by email.

Schedules will be set between students and tutors; parents will be cc’d on all scheduling emails so they are aware of when their child will meet with their tutor.  We ask that all students have an initial session in June, meet two or three times in July, and aim to complete all essay work with their tutor by Friday, August 23, 2024.  Any sessions beyond this date will be at the discretion of the individual tutor.

Tutoring sessions can be rescheduled with 48 hours notice, and students who miss more than one session without sufficient explanation (medical emergency, for example) will not be offered a rescheduled session.  We ask that parents assist in scheduling, where necessary, and assist in providing a suitable work environment for their child.
