For campers entering Kindergarten and 1st grade

Lower Camp at Camp Chris is a special place where young campers entering kindergarten and first grade embark on an unforgettable journey of exploration, growth, and fun.  Our camp is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment that caters to the unique needs and interests of our youngest adventurers.  All Lower Camp groups are named after woodland creatures; this camp shows our youngest campers how magical camp can be.

A Safe and Supportive Environment: Safety and care are paramount at Lower Camp.  We provide a secure and nurturing environment where trained counselors prioritize your child’s well-being.  Our staff is experienced and passionate about guiding young hearts on their camp adventure.

Daily Swim Lessons: All campers in Lower Camp will have a daily swim lesson, provided by our partner, North Shore Swim Club, whose experienced instructors create a supportive and encouraging environment, making learning to swim a positive experience.  All swim lessons take place in our state-of-the-art indoor pool.

Outdoor Play and Games: The wonders of the outdoors are central to our camp experience.  Your child will have the chance to explore the beauty of nature, explore our beautiful campus and eat lunch picnic style.  Games and activities are planned throughout campus, encouraging campers to experience all that St. John’s Prep has to offer.  These experiences not only teach about the world but also build a deep appreciation for it.

Varied Activities:  Lower Camp will have so many things to do each day, including activities such as daily swim lessons, free swim, music, art, dramatic play, bouncies/Tumbl Trak, Creation Stations, sports, all cohort and all camp special events, and more!*  

Friendship and Teamwork: Lower Camp is where lifelong friendships take root.  Campers build bonds with their peers through teamwork, group activities, and play.  They learn the value of cooperation and develop important social skills.

Creative Expression: Arts and creative expression play a central role in our camp.  Whether it’s painting, crafting, or imaginative storytelling, young campers have the opportunity to express themselves, let their creativity sine, and make cherished memories.

Building Confidence: Our camp empowers young hearts to gain self-confidence and independence.  They’re encouraged to make decisions, take on responsibilities, and grow as individuals.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:

• Refillable water bottle
• Nut free lunch and snack
• Swimsuit, towel, and change of clothes (goggles optional)
• Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently (bug spray optional)
• Please label all belongings with a first and last name
