Algebra 1B Step up 40 hour+ course

Prerequisites:  SJP students need a recommendation from their current math teacher.

Course Description:

This 40 hour class is for St. John’s Prep rising 9th graders who have been invited to take the class by their teachers 

Students will review the foundations for Algebra including functions, linear functions, and solving linear equations. The course will include a thorough examination of exponents including problems involving exponential growth and decay. Students will learn to operate with and factor polynomial expressions, and quadratic functions will be explored in-depth.

This course is designed for students who have excelled in a traditional 8th grade Introduction to Algebra I program and who wish to expand their knowledge to a more thorough second year Algebra I study. 

Successful completion of this course will result in placement in Accelerated or Honors Geometry in the freshman year.

Class meets on the following dates: 

Monday June 3 and Friday June 7: 8am – 1pm (Accommodates DC Trip)
Monday June 10  – Friday June 14: 8am – 1pm (Full Week)
Monday June 17: 8am – 1pm
REVIEW Day: Tuesday June 18:  9am-11am
FINAL EXAM: Thursday June 20: 9am-11am
