For campers entering Grades 4-6

Prepare yourself as we continue our exploration of Mars! This week students will continue to work with LEGO MINDSTORMS to build and program EV3 robots. In addition to completing various missions around the Mars challenge mat students will also be competing in space-themed games such as bowling and soccer. Using axles, gears, motors and sensors students will need to use creative problem-solving skills, communication, and teamwork to earn points and score big! Our experienced staff will be there each step of the way to help guide students along.

In the afternoon students will have the opportunity to produce their own LEGO stop motion animations! Students will devise a plot, build a set, and capture images. In addition they will  learn to edit their films, attach music, and add titles/credits using professional stop motion software. In the after­noon campers use Minecraft Education to build Rebel bases on hos­tile worlds filled with traps, towers, mines, pressure plates, and lava walls to pro­tect them from the Evil Empire. Throughout the week students will test their defenses with other campers.

Children may register for both weeks or individual weeks. Each week has different LEGO builds and lessons.

LetGoYourMind Outcomes: By the end of the week, each child will have learned how to build, modify and code a robot to accomplish many tasks.  In addition students will develop skills in teamwork, problem solving and creativity while creating a stop motion animation video.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:

• Refillable water bottle
• Nut free lunch and snack
• Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
• Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
• We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
