LEGO building and coding, stop motion animation, and more!

For campers entering grades 2-3

Saddle up and blast off as we join our cowboy and space friends on an adventure out of this world! Students will have a blast from creating motorized LEGO trains to escape the wild west bandits to building space rovers that will let us explore galaxies far away. Our experienced staff will guide students through each step, teaching them how to use axles, gears, battery packs, pulleys, and motors. Along the way children will also build LEGO animals like Rex the dinosaur and Bullseye the horse while learning how to code them using drag-and-drop-based interface with Bluetooth technology.

In the afternoon students will have the opportunity to produce their own LEGO stop motion animations! Students will devise a plot, build a set, and capture images. In addition they will  learn to edit their films, attach music, and add titles/credits using professional stop motion software. Children may register for both weeks or individual weeks. Each week has different LEGO builds and lessons.

LetGoYourMind Outcomes: By the end of the week, each child will have learned how to build, modify and code a robot to accomplish many tasks.  In addition students will develop skills in teamwork, problem solving and creativity while creating a stop motion animation video.

What to Pack in Your Backpack:

• Refillable water bottle
• Nut free lunch and snack
• Light layer as the A/C will be on in buildings
• Sunscreen – applied before coming and reapplied frequently
• We suggest that cell phones and other personal electronics remain at home. Should they come to camp they should remain in backpacks throughout the program day.
