Heroes Academy® LARP Day Camp
For campers entering grades 5-9
Have you ever wanted to seek hordes of treasure, and uncover ancient secrets? Or battle brutal bandits, gruesome goblins, and deadly dragons? Find your way through the dungeon, past the traps and the shadows, and claim the magical artifact? Now you can, in the interactive world of live-action roleplay (LARP). In this one-of-a-kind experience, you will explore community, art, and self-discovery by becoming your own personal hero. Through themed games, art projects, and interactive theater, we will create a world of magic and wonder, go on fantastic adventures, and discover magical mysteries. Come and be part of the unique interdisciplinary experience that the LARP Adventure Program Heroes Academy® offers! Check out this news spot about their program!
LARP Adventure Program’s curriculum is a combination of theater, martial arts, and costume/prop/stage design. We combine these arts with critical thinking, creative problem solving, and community leadership skills. Throughout the week, students will learn how to play but also how to design and run games for their peers. Our instructors will work with students to do hands-on creative activities and explore everything from game systems to character development to prop / costume building. Our interdisciplinary curriculum is tailored to multiple learning styles. We encourage self-empowerment through physical activity and expressive arts.
The following are some of the topics we may cover during the week. Campers’ interests and experience level will help determine how much time is spent on each topic. Campers may enroll in both weeks- some activities may repeat each week but we feel this gives campers a chance to try things from a different perspective.
- Character Creation: Make original heroes to play LARP, discover your own personal legend
- DIY Projects: Build your own LARP gear, learn to think creatively and make solutions.
- Martial Arts for Self Confidence and Self Control: How to play the game with respect for oneself and for others.
- How to Play LARP: Learn the game rules and how to use your character abilities. Understand gameplay and mechanics.
- Event Prep and Playing your Character: Time to celebrate all your hard work and apply the skills you have learned!
