Camp Chris | A North Shore Day Camp Tradition

Ages: 4โ€“15 | Since: 1946 | Location: St. Johnโ€™s Prep, Danvers, MA

Camp Chris has been a North Shore summer tradition since 1946. Campers enjoy friendship, fun, and discovery while learning the values of kindness, community, honesty, and respect.

Running from June through August, each week at Camp Chris features a unique weekly theme, giving campers new adventures and activities every session. Themes guide games, arts, and special events, ensuring that returning campers experience something fresh, creative, and exciting week after week.

Our caring staff balance structure and fun, helping children build confidence, form friendships, and embrace new experiences in a nurturing, welcoming environment.

Theme Weeks

WEek 1: Mini Camp kickoff

June 16–18
Camp Chris kicks off the summer with three exciting themed days that give campers a taste of the fun and adventure ahead! Each day brings new activities, games, and creative experiences for all age groups.

  • Tuesday, June 16 – Fun Camp!
    The first day of summer starts with classic Camp Chris favorites—team games, crafts, music, and plenty of outdoor fun to welcome campers back to campus.
  • Wednesday, June 17 – Wrangler Round-Up Camp
    Yee-haw! Campers saddle up for a western-themed adventure filled with cowboy crafts, frontier games, and pony rides courtesy of our special guests, Hunter’s Haven.
  • Thursday, June 18 – Superhero Training Camp
    Campers unleash their inner heroes through obstacle courses, teamwork challenges, and creative missions that test courage, strength, and imagination.

Week 2: Spotlight spectacular

June 22–26
Campers take center stage for a week of creativity, performance, and fun! With guidance from professional performers, they explore music, dance, and drama while preparing for the Camp Chris Talent Show.

Special Guests: Jenny the Juggler, Jape Acting, Hip Hop with Jarelle Rochelle, Music Man Brian Dozer

Week 3: Red, white, and wow!

June 29–July 2 (No Camp July 3)
A star-spangled celebration filled with patriotic games, crafts, and activities that capture the spirit of summer and the Fourth of July. Campers enjoy festive challenges, team competitions, and themed fun all week long.

Special Guests: Music Man Brian Dozer, Ultimate Mobile Gaming Truck, Photobooth, Mini Golf
Senior Trip: Salisbury Beach

Week 4: Color Craze

July 6–10
A bright, high-energy week where everything is full of color and creativity! Campers take part in vibrant crafts, color-themed games, and the Camp Chris Color Games, a camp-wide event where teams compete in friendly challenges.

Special Guests: Foamy Bubbles Color Party
Senior Trip: Jay Gee’s Family Fun Center

Week 5: Curious Creatures

July 13–17
A hands-on week of animal exploration! Campers meet fascinating creatures up close, learn about their habitats, and discover how to care for animals large and small.

Special Guests: Hunter’s Haven Pony Rides, Rainforest Reptile Show, Mechanical Bull Riding
Senior Trip: New England Aquarium
Note: Early Dismissal Friday, July 17 at 3:00 p.m. (No PM Extended Day)

Week 6: wizards & wonders

July 20–24
Campers enter a world of spells, potions, and imagination! This magical week includes themed games, enchanted crafts, and team challenges inspired by fantasy and adventure.

Special Guests: Magician Robert Clarke
Senior Trip: Canobie Lake Park

Week 7: Treasures & tails

July 27–31
An ocean-themed adventure packed with pirate hunts, treasure maps, and mermaid magic! Campers dive into seaside fun through creative crafts and imaginative play.

Special Guests: Big Joe the Storyteller
Senior Trip: Real Pirates Museum & Salem Willows

Week 8: Galaxy quest

August 3–7
Blast off into a week of cosmic discovery! Campers explore the mysteries of space through science experiments, galaxy-themed games, and interstellar adventures that are truly out of this world.

Special Guests: Wacky Science Show, Mobile Planetarium
Senior Trip: Museum of Science

Week 9: summer send-off!

August 10–14
The grand finale of the summer! Campers celebrate the season with classic games, friendly competitions, and favorite traditions, wrapping up camp with fun, laughter, and lasting memories.

Special Guests: Busy Bee Bounce Houses, Touch a Truck, K-9 Demo, Music Man Brian Dozer, Magician Robert Clarke, Big Joe the Storyteller
Senior Trip: Ultimate Gaming Truck (Onsite, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.)
