Prep for the Prep
Your prep journey starts here!
The 6th grade Prep for the Prep program is a unique five day opportunity created just for newly admitted SJP 6th graders to come together to have fun, make friends, and start building the bonds of brotherhood before school officially starts.
Attendance at this program is completely optional, but the opportunities presented each day will offer a fantastic springboard for students attending St. John's in the fall - we hope to see as many new faces on campus in July as possible!
This program is only available to newly admitted SJP Students.
Middle School week One:
adventure awaits!
Monday July 21 - Friday July 25, 2025
9:15am - 4:15pm
$650 per week
Transportation and Extended Day options available. Lunch is NOT available.
The week will start with an on-campus experience with a variety of faculty and coaches who students will interact with in the fall. Students will spend plenty of time in Brother Benjamin Hall, home of the Middle School, and also use some of the School’s amazing athletic facilities, including the John A. Driscoll Aquatic Center for a fun splash and swim session!
This week's programming includes:
- Kayaking with Plum Island Kayak - work as a group to navigate the Merrimack river, kayaking from Plum Island to downtown Newburyport.
- Schooner Sailing in Gloucester - learn how to sail and navigate a traditional wooden schooner. The group will also head to Halibut State Park for a short hike.
- Kestrel Educational Adventures - Kestrel is a natural science education organization dedicated to engaging young people of all ages in meaningful, hands-on learning adventures. At St. John’s Prep, we’ll explore the stunning 160-acre campus, immersing ourselves in its natural surroundings to discover, learn, and connect with the environment.
- Canobie Lake - Our week will finish up at Canobie Lake where the boys will have access to 85 rides, games, and attractions.
Registration is limited, so we encourage families to sign up as early as possible. We cannot guarantee that every day will be as advertised and may have to change the schedule based upon weather and other circumstances out of our control.
Students should wear comfortable clothing, closed toed shoes and bring snacks, a nut-free lunch and a water bottle. We recommend bringing a backpack each day to carry around campus/field trips. A more detailed email will be sent to families at least two weeks prior to the start of the program.
Questions should be directed to Mike Evans, Managing Director for Strategic Programs and Auxiliary Services. He can be reached via email at mevans@stjohnsprep.org.
Attendance in this program is completely optional, and each week is a stand-alone program; participation in both weeks is not required.
